Jenna Models J Crew HAITI Tee

This was on Facebook if you subscribe to the J Crew page, and the caption read:

Check out Jenna modeling a limited-edition “Fashion for Haiti” tee during the taping of a PSA for the “Fashion for Haiti” campaign of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). We’re so happy to announce that we’ll be selling the tees in all J.Crew and Madewell stores in a few weeks, and the CFDA will be donating net proceeds to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

Doesn't say what it will sell for, but sounds like a great idea.  There are plenty of J Crew tee fans (like me) who would probably add this to their wardrobe.  But I 'd love to see what it actually says.  Anyone else read about this?  What do you think?

J Crew Look and Anthropologie Substitute

My version...
My version... by

Good Morning. I have begun working on the follow up post from last night. But in the meantime, I wanted to point out some details about a J Crew Look Book item that you may not have noticed. Many of us loved the look on paged 16/17 of that lookbook. I even tried to pre-order it. I discovered that the cami/tank in that look was J Crew Collection, and not offered in size 14 (which I need for my bust size). Then, on further delving on the J Crew website, I found this, which matched the name given to me by my online personal shopper:

As you can see, this cami is designed like lingerie, which would never work for me.  Especially for the price.  It is called the Pink Panel Camisole (even though it comes in the other color) and will be available mid March for a mere $168.00.

So I am quite happy that I found the Anthropologie Winding Road Tank in "Green" for $48.00 shown in my PV set above.  I wish I could tell you more about it IRL, however, my order shipped January 30th has not yet arrived.  Anthropologie uses that UPS/USPS combo shipping (which I HATE), and the most update status on the USPS tracking results says "MISSENT" on February 5th.  No indication where it is.  I just wrote Anthro's customer service this morning to see if they can help and get shipping credit to pass along to moi.

So, I know "m&m'sMommy" on PV copied this look, as she fell in love with the color combo just as I did, and several PV pals also loved it.  Although I did pre-order the cardigan on that LookBook page, (arriving Mid-March also), it will be paired with this Anthro tank.

So, what do YOU think about the lingerie look?  I know many of you are much younger and could pull this off.  But, let's face it, at my age and place in life, (not to mention my body t ype) I can NOT pull this look off.

To be continued when the tank (**If?**) arrives!

Crazy, Crazy Times Around Here

Will wear this over the weekend...
Hello everyone.  Yes I am still here.  I have drafted a few posts but they are all unfinished - never enough time to download the photos and actually complete them.  So I thought I'd just fill you all in and start fresh from here.

Thank you, many of you have asked about my middle daughter, who is doing a study abroad program for her Spring semester right now in Florence, Italy.  (Notice I updated my previous Venice photo with a shot of Florence's skyline.)  She is loving Italy so much, posting on her facebook status that she might never return to America.  She has been there for three weeks, and has traveled with the school to Siena for a day, to Venice for a 3 day weekend last weekend (and it snowed while they were there!).  This weekend she and eight other friends are taking their first trip on their own.  They trained from Florence to Pisa (where the cheaper flights fly from) and flew from Pisa to Amsterdam.  So as I write this, it is midnight on her first night in Amsterdam.  No computer, and her Italy cell phone is through the college (prepaid) and she said she has "like a euro fifty" credit left.  We'll save that in case of an emergency.  Next weekend the school takes them to Assisi, and then on her Spring break, they have scheduled a flight from Pisa to Barcelona, a train from Barcelona to Madrid, a train to Paris, and then a flight from Paris back to Florence.

If you saw my updates on Polyvore sets, I have been home four out of five days this week on snow days!
No school due to snow!  We went in Thursday (2 hours late, so a shortened day at that!), and are off again today because it has been snowing all day, freezing rain tonight, and supposed to snow again all day tomorrow.  Crazy!   Who can complain with plenty of time to get things sorted, cleaned out, and organized around the house, as well as have time to cook, bake and actually lie around (like now) with a book or a laptop or watch tv!  So I spent one entire morning online determined to make plane reservations for the family to fly to Florence during oldest daughters college spring break mid March.  And after searching all of the airfare websites, finally found a fantastic fare, and reserved our tickets and seats.  Hooray!

So this afternoon I was working in our attic, which darling middle daughter totally clogged up with all of her belongings when we moved her out of her sorority house before Christmas.  I have all of our Christmas containers piled up outside the door (our attic is over 2/3 of the house, there is a finished room in the other 1/3) because I couldn't even get in there to put them away.  Right as I was finishing sorting, trashing, and re-packing up her things, now having made room to move around up there, I felt something snap in my lower back.  I absolutely cannot move.  So I am lying on my back, on the bed, with this laptop proped on a pillow on my abdomen! haha

But, I am wearing the cutest outfit:  the new J. Crew vintage bateau top in camel, seen here, with my J. Crew selvedge chambray shirt, seen here and my very favorite around the house pants, from J. Crew winter 08, but purchased in January 09 for $7.00 (those were the days) - the tuxedo striped sweat pants (the official name did include tuxedo stripe), which you can see here.   I made a polyvore set and planned to wear these tops tomorrow with my gap cargo pants - but when getting dressed, felt like this would be more comfortable to move boxes around.

Well, my DH is finally off of his conference call (even though the office closed, meetings go on!), so I will fill him in on my back information so we can get something together for dinner!

Items I am promising to post on:  The J. Crew collection sequin starland tanks, which I bought in the navy/black and the neon quartz (pink) colors; the scalloped zippered cardigan, the tissue cascading posy tank, an in-store only tee in hot pink color w/ribbon like flowers on the side (love this!), the merino linen camp cardigan in dusk, the tissue garland tank, and the tissue tier tank. These are all new, still with tags, and I'm hoping you can help me decide which to keep, what should be returned, or that I should keep it ALL!

I hope you will help me!

WARNING: My Longest Post Ever

I promised reviews of many items over the past few weeks, from sometime before the holidays until now.
Here goes:

These are the three I think I have worn the most.  The first is the J. Crew Collection Glimmer Mist Tee in light pewter.  The fabric of the actual tee is light pewter, however, this shirt looks light blue and the silver sequins are in very sparkly clusters, that seem star like.  See actual photo later in post.  The tee is quite comfortable, I never have to adjust or pull it down - it is very easy to wear. I ordered my regular tee shirt size.  I got this during the 30% off tees promo before all of the holidays, and when there is an isolated promo like this, J. Crew
also adds educator discount, So it was fun to wear over the holidays and in the snow.

This is the J. Crew Lux Tuxedo tissue tee in heather carbon.  I love this tee, as it can be dressed up and down.  I have worn it around with yoga pants or nice black sweatpants on the weekends, as well as to school and shopping.
The fabric is a great weight, not a typical JC tissue.  It is a bit fitted, but I still wore my regular tee shirt size.  The chiffon strips on the front are not finished off, as some have emailed and asked me, but there isn't any fraying or messy look.  It is hand washable, which I did.  I roll my tees in towels to dry as much as possible, and then hang to dry, smoothing out the fabric of the tee and the embellishments.  As you can see in my photo, further down, it looks fine.

And the third is Anthropoligie's Windswept Tee.  These are on sale right now from $58.00 to $29.99.  It arrived in my mail on Saturday, and I wore it Sunday,  Tuesday (after school) and Wednesday (to school).  (It was washed, don't worry).  I am wearing it right now, as I had a doctor's appointment this morning (hence, the reason I am NOT at school today and can finally finish this post!).  This tee is perfect.  (Not in any way a reference to the other store that claims they have "perfect tees")  It is not too thin, and yet thin and light enough to layer.  It can also be worn alone without any kind of items showing through in shape or color.   As my doctor walked into the exam room today, the first thing she said is "I love your top!  Is that really like a tee shirt?"  And she felt it.  She fell in love with it.  My husband even said, "I really like that tee, did that come from Anthropologie?"  (Remember, he bought me the Plaza Cardigan from Anthro back in October on our NYC trip, and he recognized the style.)  I can't say enough about this top.

Here are some IRL photos:

Hahaha, that's me, home on a sick day.  I told you I wore this to the doctor!  I didn't wear this vest.  This is Target, folks, from 2002.  It is the thinnest, warmest un-puffer ever.  But I only wear it at home, don't worry!  And you get to see me without make up too!  Of course, it doesn't show you how this top is clingy enough to show the curves (especially chest), yet loose enough to be comfortable.  Love it!

On to a few more items.

I love my J Crew sequin scarf cardigan.  I ordered this online because this color stock was getting low in my size.  It was backordered until January (I ordered this in late September) and I kept my fingers crossed it would arrive b/f Christmas.  Luckily, JC then had a 30% off sweaters promo, so I e-mailed for a price reduction, which again, since it was only a sweater promo, the 15% student/educ. discount was taken as well.  YAY!  Best of all, it arrived in plenty of time for Christmas, and I wore it to Christmas eve mass.

Since I'm not feeling well today, I'm not trying it on for you, but thought I'd style it
like the catalog.  Well, you will have to trust me that it looks much better ON!

Next is the J. Crew Fair Isle cardigan.  I love this cardigan.  It is much softer IRL than I imagined.  I think it runs slightly large, and I might have been able to size down in this, as it has plenty of room and makes me look a bit bulky in the picture.  But it is very warm, and during this recent cold spell, I could layer it with two tees (wore to the airport on Monday to see our daughter off on her semester in Florence) and not need a coat.  Here is the pic I snapped when i wore it to school the first time - and it was taken in a hurry, so excuse the blur!

Here you can also see part of our messy - post Christmas dining room, where lots of holiday items get thrown before they are put away.

Go figure why these pictures are posting where they are.  The program doesn't seem to be responding to me.  These are a few recent items that
I just love.    The constellation cardigan, long version is my latest throw it over anything cardigan.  I've already worn it 4-5 times.  It's made from JC's dream knit blend, and I like that it's not over embellished.  The sequins are little flower-like clusters, and are only on the front panels.  Love it.

The J. Crew double breasted cashmere henley in the ginger spice
color is fabulous.  Really fabulous.  The cashmere is a medium weight,
and I'm not worried about it being fragile.  I've worn it twice, and there was
very little pilling.  I haven't had to de-pill it yet, haha.

These two necklaces were lying around at the b&m for weeks.  I passed them by on several visits, since they were marked 39.99 and I just thought, well, maybe if it were less....  So last week while shopping for daughter's months in Italy, I finally picked them up for 24.99 less the 30%.  That's more like it!  I've worn them both this week, and honestly love them.  I swore off ribbon necklaces a while back, even sold a few. But these are fun.  I love the antique look of the lariat necklace.  It's much prettier in person, as I thought when I first saw it online it was much smaller.

Another item I'll share was a gift from my husband for Christmas.  He told me (after opening gifts) that he realized during the past decade, he had stopped buying me clothing on his own.  These boots are great!  He bought them at Aldo.  He did a great job, as they are in a color I was stalking on line on several websites, AND the heel is great for me with my knee/walking issues.  They were comfortable from day one!  What do you think?

This boot is named Hessee, I believe.  I think I saw them on sale after Christmas, but the regular price is pretty great.

I think I will stop now.  To be continued....

Some more J. Crew and Anthropologie items to come.  As I was writing this, the UPS guy came, with a few more things I can show you!  I promise not to take too long, but I need to rest.

Happy New Year!

Well, it's the last day of Winter Break. Back to getting up early and off to school. The last day of the holidays. Who is ready? Not me!!!

Mr. Bichonluvr has been off this week too, and all three daughters home. It has been a wonderful time spent with friends, and relaxing. This was the first Christmas in our 20 years in Virginia that we did not either travel back "home" to Pennsylvania, or have family come stay with us here to share the holidays. Our household is quite active, and we have so many friends here, several who are as close as any brother or sister. We actually consider our relationships as family. When my husband was admitted to the ICU several years ago, our best friends/next door neighbors husband went to see him. They said "family only, sir" and he said "I am his brother." Really. No one else in this town was family. Who else was going to visit him besides me? Anyway, I'm off topic. Sorry. It really was a welcome change. And it worked out well for our families as well, who will be coming in the next few weeks, as well as we will visit PA too.

I received several packages from J Crew in December. Many for gifts, but some items pour moi as well. I am putting together some photos for a big review post coming up later this week.

I'm also going to be quite busy shopping and preparing for daughter #2 as she heads off to Florence on January 11th, to study abroad for the Spring semester. So please forgive me if I'm a bit late posting.

I did bite on only one tee from the latest roll out, the tissue beaded lace tee in white. What you don't see on the website photo is that this tee has a sort of "painted" look all over the front (you have to use the zoom feature to see it). They showed it on the mannequin in the store with the deep aubergine ikat scarf, which I have, and a brownish cardigan, which I have two to choose from already, with light pink capris (which I also have, but won't wear until we get closer to spring!).

There are some other items I'm waiting for as well, some on back order. But all that will be in the photos/post, I promise.

But my theme now is the same as the Polyvore set above "New Things with the Old" because planning a trip for the rest of us to visit Florence daughter will be quite a shiny penny (to quote my grandmother). So there won't be too many more new things for a while.

Happy New Year!

When I Grow Up...

I want to be a cool grandma like her!  Doesn't she look cute?  This is from the wedding shot in the December J Crew catalogs.  I noticed her before and thought this, but have wanted to share to see if you noticed her?

Hope you are all having a fun holiday season - all of us here on the East Coast are having a love/hate
relationship with all of the snow.   How much snow did you all get???  Are you finished shopping yet?
Share!  I've been trying to keep up with all the blogs, just haven't had time to post.
